Kernel upgrades have stopped appearing in the list of upgradeable files when doing a DU and won't get upgraded. I can't figure out why.

ie. Kernel 3.13-rc6-1 is available but won't install and doesn't appear in the list of upgrades.

apt-get -s dist-upgrade

  freecad gnupg-agent gnupg2 iso-codes kmod libkmod2 libltdl7 libtool
  module-init-tools
9 upgraded, 5 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.

Yet apt-cache shows the kernel can be upgraded.

So kernel 3.13-rc6-1 is available but somehow doesn't appear in the DU upgradeable list and therefore doesn't get upgraded.

This occurs even though I have the siduction image and header meta packages installed.

I'm at a loss to figure out why this is happening. The only clue I have is Debian Package Search says I have kernel 3.12-8 installed (with 3.13-rc6-1 available) whereas

$ uname -a
Linux westfield 3.12-6.towo-siduction-amd64 #1 SMP PREEMPT Fri Dec 20 17:37:54 UTC 2013 x86_64 GNU/Linux

shows I actually have 3.12-6. So I suspect there is a corrupted config file somewhere.

Any help would be gratefully received.

3.12-8 is the version of the Metapackage, the kernel is 3.12.6.

And btw, show the output of

apt-cache policy linux-image-siduction-amd64

Thanks towo:
Doesn't the meta package initiate a kernel with the the same version number as the meta package?

Still doesn't explain why kernel 3.12.x isn't being upgraded to 3.13-rc6.

Anyway as requested...

# apt-cache policy linux-image-siduction-amd64

No, why should it?

How long you are using debian?
You know what pinning is?
And btw, no one wants rc-kernels installing automatic on upgrade.

Ah Ah!
That really confirms that I'm really dense and getting thicker by the minute.
I'll wait for the next unstable (non-candidate) kernel release.

Thanks again towo.
