We still stick since before the freeze with plasma 5.14.

Does anybody has a clear view into the future in his glass ball, or maybe heard/read anything concering debian/Sid

It will not be too long. My uneducated guess is it will happen this year. Debian is busy with quite a few things that also touch Plasma like getting rid of the remnants of Qt4 and the removal of everything related to python 2.

erm - this has nothing to do with plasma :D - but ok, my guess is that a new plasma will come soon if the bigger tasks are ironed out. And to be honest: I don't see much right now what will be extremly better with a new plasma - it just works fine for me if i'm forced to use it :D

Erm, people who are not forced to use it, for sure see that differently :)

Sure, it will not be much better... but the newer ones have some improvements.

It's interesting that quite a lot of the work in KDE now seems to be feature enhancements and rectifying what I consider quirks rather than serious bugs. I am really happy with KDE/Plasma 5.14 and it is by far my preferred DE.
By contrast I have MX Linux installed and have been following its development for some time and there are some serious annoying behaviours which I consider bugs, most of which are probably due to the state of Xfce DE rather than MX itself. Thunar is terrible compared to Dolphin, Konsole is way better than XFTerminal, and Kate/Kwrite are best of breed. Other DEs I haven't checked out for a while although I'm most interested in LXQt.

I saw a lot of KF5 libs being upgraded in D-U this week, Plasma may soon follow.

Just another update from reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/debian/comments/eqzhfh/kde_plasma_517_is_on_the_way_into_debian/
New plasma is in the experimental branch, someone says that updating didn't created issues but is better to wait :-)
