Can't dist upgrade

Ok so laptop the upgrade was fine but when dkms runs on my desktop for the 5.17.5-3 I get a kernel panic. 

Ok correction I figured it it out.  It was a hardware issue, I had to hard shut down the machine power it on and then boot into an older kernel.
