Without any offense meant to the Siduction- Team which does a great job: I can only recommend to give ArchLinux a try. Albeit being more or less a beginner when it comes to linux - Arch runs incredibly stable, and with a mini tutorial everything could be setup even with time machine in case something goes wrong. Really not much more work than setting any other distro to he honest and runs without problems smooth for me 😎

... mein System wirklich hin ist, nach dem letzten DU startet es nicht einmal mehr. ...

@Lanzi, have you tried to fix it with the "chroot helper" on the live ISO? It is easy and powerful if you have some idea about where the problem is.
I completely killed my system with the last NVidia update. I'm still not sure how I managed that but the 'chroot helper' is like a magic wand. As always, thanks to the people who keep us going!

I think @Lanzi has his reasons for wanting to stick with Siduction. He's been around here since 2010, so he should know the advantages and limitations of a rolling release based on Debian/unstable and why that choice was made. And @Lanzi should know best whether a quick fix is still worth it.

If I were @Lanzi, I would have taken the latest test build and done a fresh install a long time ago. When the new release comes out, you only need to make minor adjustments (such as updating the artwork) to stay completely up to date. That's one of the advantages of a rolling release.

Just my two cents.

thanks for all the support. I tried everything, It started with the problems I described in the thread 2 month ago. And I actually started with charoot etc. But it got only worse with every week. and last week it didn't start anylonger etc.
So, the horse is dead... Jim :D

For the history: I started with debian 2003 and one year later with kanotix then sidux, Aptosid, siduction. Some of yiou might remember all this from their own history :-*
I will stay with Debian until the end :)

And yes, I will install the last testbuild.
Greetings to everyone :)

Result:

Installation Failed

Package Manager Error

The package manager could not make changes to the installed system.
The command
apt-get-purge -q -y remove calamares ^fll-*.*-livesettings set password
returned error 100.

Next, I used the siduction 14 APR 2026 ISO and it finished the installation correctly. There were 1318 packages that needed upgraded -- it went through satisfactorily after I fixed the repos.

Hi all!
It's mid-May 2026 already.
What's new about new Siduction 2025 release?
May the happiness be with you!

It is on the way, but it will be a 2026 release.
Be patient, it is not far away.
You can try our testbuilds and report issues, if you want and if you desperate enough.
But be aware, sometimes the testbuilds will change per our, sometimes only one time a week or so.
There are some little issues but not critical, you will find out 8)
