Btw, I am really curious to see what will happen with the coming of Wayland, about how it will affect things.
For instance will things like "ssh -X", VNC still be possible (both as client and server) and what will be the real improvements in terms of speed and reliability, especially running a complex desktop like plasma?

From what I have read, theorically, it could somewhat lower hardware requirements for older machines (is that correct?) which would mean extending their lives with modern stuff.

It's anyway clear that, with systemd and soon wayland, linux will deviate a lot from classic unix.

classic unix machines mostly don't use X - at least at the time i work with

Actually, Solaris, OpenSolaris forks, BSDs, all feature X.
But this is going rather off topic...

I just installed Patience to a USB stick, using "dd" to the /dev/sde device.  It is perfect -- found my wifi chip and set up networking automatically.  Very nice job!

Kernel 4.8.10 macht keine Probleme.

If you allow me ...

Nearly half of January! Any idea when we may expect the 2017 Siduction LXQT?

Thank you.

typical debian answer - when it is done

In other words - there will be some point releases of components this weekend - and i'm not willing to release siduction LXQt without these new packages.

Thank you very much for more than a 'typical Debian answer'. Agree with your efforts to make the iso as nice and as up to date as possible.

Looking forward to testing it!

Thank you.

So far so good...

After installation has been performed (now just some minor customizations will follow), I can happily tell that not only all my hardware was recognized at first shot (including my Canon S100 camera within kamera) but also that double screen has been immediately configured right and that also multimedia part (even if I have taken out the extra Audigy soundcard because I do not need it in the present setting, but I am sure that phonon would have managed it great) did not need a single config by me. I would call this pretty much SPECTACULAR.

Also, installing on preformatted xfs partitions with internal log for performance was recognized by the installer without a glitch. I am thinking that this is by far the best release ever, taking away the config fuss from the average user and letting him concentrate on the work and fun rather than on headaches on how to make things run smooth.

This is a copy of my inxi -F for referral:

So, very HUGE compliments to the dev team, for making all of this happen, guys you really kick some major ass!
It brought me back pleasure into sid computing, after a long survival with a broken kde4.
I will also respawn the ridersonthestorm screen for login, it's soooo cool, especially for bikers like me.

One note for future upgrades: not always a du is enough, like it has been in the transitions from kdm to lightdm to sddm, and how it will be, for example, in the future wayland transition. It would be nice to have detailed "transitional notes" either when there's a new release (like at old sidux times) or whenever necessary. It could also be some section on the website (which could also signal current du alerts), but the message here is clear: no matter how the information would be given, the user should follow faithfully upgrade instructions from the devs.

Thank you again for making all this coolness happen!
